BodyTite

Bodytite Liposuction Northern Virginia

BodyTite is an innovative technology that non-surgically tightens skin and removes unwanted fat. It works by gently heating the skin and fat using controlled radiofrequency energy. Having been cleared by the FDA, BodyTite is both effective and safe. This advanced technology can be safely used essentially anywhere on the body and is most commonly done on the abdomen, flanks, arms, breasts/chest, and thighs. Often, BodyTite is combined with liposuction for an even more dramatic, minimally-invasive result. FaceTite is the complementary modality for treating the neck and jowl area to restore a youthful, natural-looking neck and jawline.

Who is the best candidate for BodyTite?

As with any new technology, BodyTite represents an evolution from older energy-based devices such as SmartLipo, SlimLipo, and VASER. BodyTite can be used alone or in conjunction with liposuction or surgery. In many patients, liposuction alone may be limited by the skin’s ability to “shrink" once the fat has been removed. With the addition of BodyTite, the results can be greatly improved.

The ideal candidate for BodyTite with or without liposuction is, therefore, near their ideal weight with mild to moderate excess skin. Those with significant skin excess will generally be best served by excisional type procedures (tummy tuck, for example). Although liposuction can create dramatic, yet natural changes to your physique, it is NOT effective as a weight-loss tool. The body mass index (BMI) should be 30 or less.

How does BodyTite work?

BodyTite can be done alone or, more commonly, in conjunction with liposuction. The procedure can be done with local anesthetic only (numbing medicine applied while you are awake), under sedation, or under general anesthesia depending on areas treated and your preferences. Regardless of which you choose, Dr. Sailon begins by gently putting numbing medicine in the relevant areas. This fluid also contains a medication to temporarily constrict small blood vessels thereby increasing safety and minimizing bruising.

Once you are comfortable, a needle is used to create a small opening in the skin. Dr. Sailon then guides a thin fiber beneath the skin. Radiofrequency energy is emitted from the tip. Both an internal and external thermometer ensure that the tissue is heated to the right amount without creating a burn. During this portion of the procedure, Dr. Sailon does everything possible to minimize any discomfort you might feel.

The radiofrequency energy delivered causes lipolysis (elimination of fat cells) and skin tightening. A small amount of tightening may be noticed immediately but results are typically seen after one month with a peak effect at 6 months.

What is the recovery from BodyTite?

Because BodyTite is minimally invasive, the recovery period is very quick. If done alone, you may generally return to work and normal activities the same day. A small amount of bruising and swelling can occur but this is far less than with standard surgical procedures. You may be asked to wear a compressive garment, particularly if liposuction was done in conjunction.

After serious consideration, and in line with the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), we will be limiting our practice until April 7th. This may need to be extended further depending on how the situation evolves. Your health and well-being are our primary concern and we want to do our part to make sure that you are protected.

Effective immediately the following will occur:
All procedures and in-person consultations will be suspended until April 7th.

The office will be partially staffed, and we will see our urgent post-surgical follow-ups.

We are instituting Virtual Consultations for our large inquiry base.

Many surgeries are rescheduled and some of the ones that are committed will occur on a per case basis.

No patient will ever have any financial recourse for rescheduling their procedures.

We are constantly updating our services and staffing according to the local and national recommendations and will always place your health and well-being as our top priority. We continue to exercise all the latest recommendations that are handed down by the CDC. These include:

  • Staff have been fully informed and trained to understand the disease process and its modes of transmission.
  • All staff, vendors and ancillary personnel are being asked to refrain from coming to this office if they have any signs or symptoms of a cold or an upper respiratory tract infection.
  • Every patient is also being asked to refrain from coming to the office if they have any symptoms.
We are asking our patients about any pertinent travel history.
  • Hand-washing continues to be the most important mode of prevention. Although it is a part of what we constantly do, now we are doing so with heightened vigilance and attention.
  • We have instituted a “no handshakes no hug” policy for now.
  • As we are a medical facility, we are constantly sanitizing all surfaces. We have now vamped that up and our routine, multiple times a day, wiping down all surfaces, desks, door handles, keyboards and restroom facilities.

Please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always here to answer your questions.
