Buttock augmentation (also known as a Brazilian Butt Lift)
– McLean VA, Woodbridge VA, & Chevy Chase MD –
The “Brazilian butt lift," as it has been known to be called, has become one of the most popular procedures in plastic surgery. This procedure allows Dr. Sailon to dramatically define the abdomen, waistline and lower back as well as creating new, soft curves in the hips and/or buttock. The whole body appears sexier and more proportional. This result is achieved using your own fat allowing for a natural result.
Buttock augmentation with Dr. Sailon
Dr. Sailon is capable of creating a wide variety of results and it is critical that this procedure be tailored to the individual’s desires – some wish to have dramatic, voluptuous curves, while others will seek to simply balance their proportions.
Dr. Sailon pays particular attention to restoring or enhancing your natural curves. The procedure involves a fat transfer technique where unwanted fat is removed by liposuction and transplanted to the buttocks and hips. The areas of fat removal are equally as important as where the fat as transplanted, much like a picture frame presents a painting. The buttock and hips become rounder making the waist and rest of the body look slimmer. The buttocks usually have a firm, athletic feel after surgery.
Who should get a buttock augmentation?
If you are in good health and unhappy with the appearance of your buttocks or hips, you are likely a good candidate. Even thin patients will usually have enough fat for this technique to be effective. If you are very overweight (BMI >35) then you may wish to defer surgery until you are at a more suitable weight.
Candidates for this surgery generally wish to:- Transform a flat, shapeless, or deflated buttock into a rounder, more projecting one
-Change straight or indented hips to a more “hourglass silhouette” with a narrow appearing waist-Remove areas of undesirable fat such as the abdomen, love handles, upper or lower back, arms or inner thighs
In certain people, buttock augmentation can be combined with other surgical procedures as well, such as a tummy tuck or breast augmentation.
Buttock augmentation is usually done as an outpatient surgery, meaning you go home the same day. Local anesthetic (numbing medicine) is used during the surgery so that you wake up comfortable. Of course, any surgical procedure does cause some discomfort. Most patients are walking shortly after surgery. Moving around and getting out of bed frequently is highly encouraged starting immediately after surgery.
In order for the transplanted fat to live in its new location, it is critical that you take care with certain body positions after surgery. Sitting is acceptable but you must avoid hard surfaces or leaning too far back with your upper body. Dr. Sailon will review the postoperative instructions carefully with you prior to surgery.
Dr. Sailon typically recommends taking 10 days off from work but some may be able to return earlier. You can expect to have some bruising and swelling in the areas treated. The swelling subsides in the first few weeks but the final shape and contour continues to improve for several months.
How does a buttock augmentation work?
Dr. Sailon exclusively does buttock augmentation with a fat transfer technique and does not use buttock implants. He believes using your own fat creates a more natural result and has a much lower complication rate than implants.
Achieving a beautiful result while keeping you safe are of the utmost concern to Dr. Sailon. Your buttock augmentation will be done under general anesthesia and can take 2-4 hours depending on the amount of work involved.
Typically, the procedure begins once you are asleep with liposuction of the abdomen and flanks. You are then gently turned over and liposuction continues around the back.
The fat is prepared in a special way which allows it to be transplanted back into your body. The fat is then carefully placed in the buttocks and hips depending on your desires. This technique allows Dr. Sailon to sculpt your trunk and create beautiful curves.
